Небольшой андроид-смартфон среднего уровня из новой линейки Xperia NXT

В начале года компания Sony Mobile (бывшая Sony Ericsson) пополнила свое семейство смартфонов на платформе Android тремя новинками. Телефоны были объединены общим подназванием Xperia, войдя в новую линейку Xperia NXT под буквенными обозначениями S, P и U. Sony Xperia S — это флагман новой линейки со всеми вытекающими из этого последствиями, Sony Xperia P — модель чуть проще, но тоже весьма технически продвинутая и совсем не дешевая, и о них обеих мы совсем недавно подробно рассказывали в соответствующих обзорах.

Сегодня мы рассмотрим третью из новинок — самую недорогую и, соответственно, самую аппаратно простую из них. Однако, это не значит, что модель совсем слаба и может быть отнесена лишь к начальному уровню — вовсе нет. Sony Xperia U — это быстрый и современный двухъядерный смартфон с экраном высокого разрешения. Его «слабости» по отношению к старшим моделям линейки Xperia NXT — это меньшие габариты и, соответственно, меньший размер экрана, а также менее мощная аппаратная платформа и более простое строение корпуса. Однако даже у этой малютки нашлось несколько черт, положительно выделяющих ее из общего списка новинок Sony. Но обо всем по порядку.

Все телефоны новой серии имеют очень похожий дизайн, который внутри компании называют «Iconic Design». Внешность всех устройств действительно настолько схожа, что по одиночке на фотографиях их практически не различить. Наша малютка имеет самые миниатюрные габариты из всех.

Отличия начинаются прямо с упаковки. Все коммуникаторы новой линейки Xperia NXT поставляются в совершенно одинаковых внешне плоских и широких коробках. Но это только на первый взгляд. У Sony Xperia U самая простая из всех трех упаковок. Она лишена отдельного верхнего кожуха, и полиграфия нанесена прямо на открывающиеся части.

В остальном коробки идентичны, и дифференцировать их на вид можно лишь по небольшим надписям внизу лицевой поверхности. В нашем случае здесь написано «Xperia U», и рядом присутствует значок, означающий, что устройство может быть подвергнуто обновлению операционной системы до новой Android 4.0. Так что покупатели Sony Xperia U могут не беспокоиться за будущую поддержку своего нового устройства со стороны производителя.

Помимо самого смартфона, в комплекте прилагается универсальное зарядное устройство с USB-выходом, кабель USB—Micro-USB для зарядки и синхронизации с компьютером, простая проводная стереогарнитура со стандартным джеком 3,5 мм, а также 3 дополнительные сменные крышки и документация. Содержание комплекта от страны к стране варьируется — например, в нашем, «европейском» комплекте нашлась лишь одна дополнительная пластмассовая крышка белого цвета, но зато были вложены защитная пленка и переходник для Micro-SIM.

Внешний вид и удобство использования

Sony Xperia U — это очень небольшой по своим габаритам смартфон. Он имеет самые маленькие в линейке Xperia NXT размеры. Рядом с флагманом — Sony Xperia S — он вообще выглядит крохотным.

Однако в руке смартфон располагается достаточно комфортно. Не слишком тонкий, он заполняет всю ладонь и надежно лежит в руке. Было бы даже хуже, если бы производитель сделал ему более тонкий корпус. Небольшой вес вкупе с миниатюрными размерами позволяют носить телефон в любом кармане, даже нагрудном кармане рубашки, что актуально для летнего времени.

Материалы корпуса — сплошной пластик, причем бо́льшую часть составляет задняя съемная крышка. Она не плоская, и закрывает не только тыльную часть, но и боковые грани. Под ней расположены слот для полноразмерной SIM-карты и съемный, что приятно, аккумулятор.

Крышка имеет достаточно толстый профиль и надежно крепится при помощи нескольких защелок, сидит как влитая и плотно прилегает к корпусу — люфта, щелей или скрипов здесь нет. Поначалу можно даже подумать, что корпус неразборный, потому что все кнопки расположены прямо на крышке. Однако это не так — крышка снимается вместе с кнопками, открывая контакты, которые эти кнопки замыкают.

Сама крышка выполнена из прорезиненного пластика с эффектом soft touch, поэтому телефон в пальцах не скользит, приятен на ощупь и не хранит отпечатки пальцев. В ней, традиционно, прорезаны отверстия для внешнего динамика и глазка фотокамеры со вспышкой. Динамик прикрыт металлической окрашенной решеточкой для предотвращения попадания внутрь пыли и для защиты динамика. Его отверстие расположено на скошенной стороне, поэтому звук поверхностью стола не перекрывается.

Но это не единственная крышка в Sony Xperia U. В самом низу у телефона имеется еще одна крышка — точно такая же, как у модели Sony Xperia P. Только в отличие от нее, у Sony Xperia U в комплекте прилагается целых три таких дополнительных крышки. Они все разноцветные, и призваны изменить внешний вид устройства, то есть индивидуализировать его. Телефон поставляется на рынок в черном и белом цветах, и помимо этих двух цветов у каждого в комплекте будут еще желтая и розовая крышечки — всего четыре.

Поначалу надевать желтую, например, крышку на черный корпус кажется нелепостью, однако на этом кастомизация собственного телефона не заканчивается. Оказывается, прозрачная полоска над крышкой — тоже бывает разноцветная. Она может ярко подсвечиваться тем же цветом, что и выбранная тема. Так что если поставить, скажем, желтую тему на рабочий стол Sony Xperia U и надеть желтую же крышечку, то уже получается интересное, законченное решение. То же самое касается и других цветов. Разноцветные темы уже предустановлены в телефоне, и полоска автоматически подстраивает свой цвет под выбранную тему. Помимо этого, полоска меняет свой цвет в зависимости от общего цвета просматриваемой фотографии. Например, если на фото голубые облака, то полоска засветится голубым, если много зелени — зеленым. Интересное и яркое решение, которое рассчитано, по большей части, на молодежь.

Лицевая сторона почти полностью прикрыта защитным стеклом, в котором прорезано отверстие для слухового динамика, не прикрытое никакой решеточкой. Туда набивается пыль, но таков новый дизайн Sony, и все телефоны линейки в этом вопросе одинаковы. Рядом видны сенсоры приближения и освещенности, а также глазок фронтальной камеры для видеозвонков.

Клавиши управления, как и у флагмана, нанесены на прозрачную полоску, но не нажимаются. Нажимать следует чуть выше пиктограмм, на едва заметные точки. В отличие от флагмана, у Sony Xperia U не столь крупные габариты, и до всех кнопок можно легко достать пальцами одной руки.

Остальные кнопки собраны на одной грани — правой: здесь кнопка питания, двухпозиционная клавиша-качель для регулирования уровня звука и кнопка запуска фотокамеры. Традиционно для смартфонов Sony, у Xperia U тоже имеется отдельная аппаратная кнопка для активации камеры, что удобно. Как и в других смартфонах новой линейки, эта кнопка может не только активировать камеру, но и сделать моментальный снимок, причем даже из заблокированного состояния. Это свойство нравится пользователям, оно востребовано, и отзывы по этому поводу сплошь положительные. Большинству людей нравится, что можно достать смартфон и сделать быстрый снимок, не выискивая в меню никаких иконок.

Для связи и синхронизации с компьютером, а также для зарядки здесь используется разъем Micro-USB, который расположен в верхней части левой грани смартфона.

Аудиоразъем для наушников стандартного диаметра 3,5 мм расположен в верхней части, здесь же и отверстие для дополнительного микрофона. Снизу под съемной крышкой имеется специальный крепеж для ремешка, что удобно, но, к сожалению, чрезвычайно редко встречается в современных аппаратах. Отверстие основного микрофона тоже здесь.

В целом новый коммуникатор выглядит современно и стильно, он выполнен в узнаваемом дизайне Sony. Смартфон не смотрится дешево, с ним не стыдно показаться на людях. У телефона нет ярко выраженной половой принадлежности, он подойдет как мужской, так и женской части пользователей. Скорее всего, Sony Xperia U придется по душе молодежи — за счет невысокой цены и яркого цветового оформления, которое отчасти можно самостоятельно подстроить под свой вкус.

Экран

Дисплей Sony Xperia U — это обычная TFT TN-матрица, не отличающаяся большими углами обзора, но обладающая неплохим запасом яркости. Не сказать, что запас яркости чрезмерен, но на максимальном уровне ее вполне достаточно. Правда, на солнце экран здорово слепнет.

Что касается физических параметров, то разрешение экрана Sony Xperia U составляет 854×480, с физическими размерами 44×77 мм и диагональю 89 мм (3,5 дюйма). При достаточно высоком разрешении в небольших физических размерах картинка получается четкая и гладкая, никакой зернистости, естественно, не заметить — плотность пикселей в данном экране достаточно высока (PPI = 279,9).

Картинка дополнительно улучшается при помощи фирменной технологии Mobile Bravia Engine, делающей ее еще более реалистичной. Технология эта программная, и работает она только во время просмотра фото и видео. По заявлению производителя, технология позволяет отображать картинку более естественным для глаза образом, добавляя четкости, насыщенности, контрастности и к тому же убирая часть шумов.

Цвета на этом экране выглядят реалистично, не так ярко, как на AMOLED-дисплеях, картинка мягкая и слегка бархатистая. Кстати, в отличие от флагмана, в настройках Sony Xperia U имеется как ручная, так и автоматическая настройки яркости. Впрочем, в данном случае ползунок лучше держать ближе к максимальному значению, иначе будет темновато.

Снаружи экран прикрыт защитным минеральным стеклом, устойчивым к царапинам. На прикосновения пальцев экран отзывается чутко, ошибочных нажатий замечено не было. В отличие от большинства последних смартфонов Sony, у этой малютки на экране нет заводской защитной пленки. Экран хорошо бликует и быстро заляпывается — в отличие от корпуса. Здесь не помешает пленка с антибликовым покрытием.

Звук

Звук внешнего динамика не слишком громкий, чего и следовало ожидать от недорого и небольшого телефона. К тому же преобладают высокие частоты, басов нет. Не помогает даже то, что звук здесь дополнительно обрабатывается при помощи фирменной технологии xLoud. Это технология, разработанная Sony, на качество звука никак не влияет, а служит для усиления громкости основного динамика. Но между включенным и выключенным режимом xLoud разницу нам заметить не удалось.

Со слуховым динамиком примерно такая же ситуация: звук не слишком громкий и не очень чистый — впрочем, по частотам достаточно сочный. Речь и интонации собеседника передает вполне сносно, но ни о каком громком и кристально чистом звуке тут не может быть и речи. Оба динамика Sony Xperia U средние по качеству выдаваемого звука.

Что касается звука в наушниках, то комплектная стереогарнитура здесь слишком проста, чтобы говорить о каком-либо качестве звучания. К тому же сами наушники здесь обычные — не вкладные — так что в данном случае руки сами тянутся за более качественными вкладными наушниками. Аудиогнездо здесь стандартное — диаметром 3,5 мм, так что подойдут любые. С качественными наушниками и звук становится интересней — особенно если подстроить под свой вкус имеющийся здесь эквалайзер. Необходимо лишь помнить, что при длительном прослушивании музыки с включенным эквалайзером батарея разряжается быстрее.

В смартфоне традиционно есть FM-радио, и работает оно традиционно лишь с подключенной гарнитурой. Настройки незатейливы, разобраться легко.

Камера

Радует, что даже в такой малютке, которая занимает в общей линейке нижнюю ценовую позицию, Sony не пожадничала и включила фронтальную камеру для видеосвязи. Ничего особенного она из себя, конечно, не представляет — качества от разрешения 0,3 Мп никто и не ждет, но чтобы включиться в видеоконференцию, его вполне хватит.

Модуль основной камеры чуть интереснее, но он, конечно, уступает в качестве камерам своих старших собратьев. Здесь максимальное разрешение снимков — 5 Мп с соотношением сторон 4:3. Фотографии получаются при этом размером 2592×1944. Если есть желание выставить съемку в широкоформатном соотношении сторон 16:9, то кадры будут получаться с разрешением 2560×1440 точек, то есть 3 Мп. Качество и четкость фотографий в оригинальном разрешении можно оценить, щелкнув на миниатюры.

Благодаря автоматической фокусировке, близко расположенные объекты, а также текст с бумаги или экрана монитора неплохо фиксируются камерой.

Камера умеет снимать видео в HD-разрешении. Здесь выложена пара десятисекундных роликов, снятых при максимальных настройках с частотой 29 кадров в секунду. Ролики сохраняются в формате mp4, и имеют разрешение 1280×720 точек ( №1 — 10 МБ, №2 — 8 МБ).

Представители Sony отдельно делают акцент на скорости съемки камерами их новых смартфонов. При нажатии на аппаратную клавишу происходит и включение камеры, и съемка, даже если телефон был заблокирован. В настройках можно изменить назначение этой кнопки на функцию активации камеры, но без съемки. Саму съемку можно осуществить также и без применения аппаратной клавиши — нажатием на виртуальную кнопку на экране.

Программное обеспечение и телефонная часть

Что касается программной начинки, то здесь все идентично содержимому остальных собратьев по линейке — Sony Xperia S и Sony Xperia P , о которых мы уже много и подробно писали. Как и они, Sony Xperia U вышел в продажу и работает под управлением знакомой и уже отживающей свой век версии ОС Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread с обещанной возможностью обновления до версии 4.0.

Стандартный интерфейс Google Android видоизменен при помощи собственной программной оболочки, которая несколько изменяет и дополняет его, но не сильно. По пяти начальным экранам рабочего стола разбросаны фирменные виджеты (вроде погоды), общий внутренний список программ может быть отсортирован по нескольким параметрам, а при первом включении фирменное приложение предлагает произвести настройку смартфона.

С телефонными функциями Sony Xperia U справляется на уровне современных аппаратов. Сотовую сеть телефон держит надежно, в условиях слабого приема связь не теряет. Никаких зависаний или самопроизвольных перезагрузок за две недели тестирования замечено не было. Модули Wi-Fi и GPS также проверены в работе, и к ним тоже нет никаких претензий.

Производительность

Аппаратная платформа Sony Xperia U (модель ST25i) строится на базе SoC ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500. Центральным процессором здесь является двухъядерный ARMv7, работающий на частоте 1000 МГц. Поддержку в обработке графики ему оказывает видеоускоритель Mali-400MP. Здесь всё точно так же, как у старшей модели Sony Xperia P. Правда, в отличие от нее, у Xperia U всего 512 МБ оперативной памяти. Хранилище, доступное пользователю для загрузки собственных файлов, составляет около 4 ГБ без возможности расширения картами памяти, потому что слота для них тут не предусмотрено.

В Quadrant Standard Sony Xperia U набрал достойные 2223 очков, обогнав старшую модель Sony Xperia P, но чуть отстав от собственного флагмана — у Sony Xperia S в этом тесте результат 3104 баллов.

По результатам комплексного AnTuTu Benchmark v2.8 картина повторилась: аппарат чуть быстрее, чем модель с аналогичной аппаратной платформой, но бо́льшим по площади и разрешению экраном, и, конечно, медленнее флагмана.

Производительность графики мы протестировали в NenaMark2 (v2.2). По результатам нескольких прогонов, графический ускоритель Mali-400MP в этом устройстве выдал неплохой, но не лучший среди соседей по линейке средний результат в 27 fps.

Что касается собственных впечатлений, то общение с Sony Xperia U вызывает только положительные ощущения: небольшой экран позволяет легко дотягиваться до любого элемента на экране, все списки и рабочие столы прокручиваются плавно, без рывков, никаких залипаний при перелистывании нет; программы открываются быстро, а игры из Google Play Store не тормозят. Аппарат вполне способен проигрывать без замедлений видео с разрешением вплоть до 720p — другое дело, что нет смысла забивать небольшой объем встроенной памяти столь объемными файлами (разрешение экрана-то гораздо ниже, а видеовыхода у смартфона нет).

Время автономной работы

Литиево-ионная батарея, установленная в Sony Xperia U, сменная. Она имеет не слишком большую по современным меркам емкость в 1290 мА·ч. Однако при столь небольшом экране — наиболее энергоемком элементе любого телефона — батарея вполне способна поддерживать работу устройства на уровне других современных смартфонов.

Тестирование работы аккумулятора Sony Xperia U произвело лучшее впечатление, чем в случае с моделью Sony Xperia P. У той батарея оказалась не способна поддерживать работу устройства в разумных пределах. Здесь же беспрерывное проигрывание MP3 с выключенным экраном продлилось от одного заряда более 31 часа, а беспрерывное чтение в программе FBReader на среднем уровне яркости продлилось 8 часов.

Просмотр видео в контейнере MKV с разрешением 720p продлился 3 часа 20 минут, но это потому лишь, что MX Player не поддерживал аппаратное декодирование при проигрывании MKV, и вся нагрузка ложилась на процессор. При просмотре же файла в контейнере AVI с разрешением 624×352 смартфон спокойно проработал 5 часов и более.

Заряжается Sony Xperia U достаточно быстро. Время полной зарядки составило менее 2 часов.

Итог

Подводя итог сегодняшнему обзору Sony Xperia U, хочется, прежде всего, отметить именно то, что это самое небольшое и самое недорогое из устройств линейки Xperia NXT. Даже новый аппарат Sony Xperia sola стоит чуть дороже, чем эта модель. При этом у Xperia U все в порядке не только с дизайном — смартфон тоже получил фирменный Sony «iconic design», — но и с аппаратными характеристиками. В этой малютке точно такая же мощная двухъядерная платформа, что и у старшей модели — Sony Xperia P, но при меньшем экране она выдает даже бо́льшую производительность. Выражаясь молодежным языком, модель получилась очень «шустрая», на что, собственно, и рассчитывал производитель, разрабатывая смартфон для молодежи. Телефон Sony Xperia U тем более понравится молодым людям, если учесть его возможности по кастомизации за счет выбора различных цветовых вариаций предустановленных тем и комплектных крышек. Правда, молодежи может не понравиться отсутствие возможности увеличения размера хранилища собственных файлов при помощи карт памяти, это накладывает свои ограничения в использовании смартфона. Впрочем, это становится уже общей нехорошей тенденцией, и ей подвержена в последнее время не только Sony.

Что касается конкурентов, то здесь приходит на ум лишь модель HTC One V, занимающая аналогичную позицию в линейке новых смартфонов тайваньского производителя. У него чуть больше экран (3,7 дюйма), но при этом чуть ниже разрешение (480×800) и, соотвественно, меньше плотность точек (PPI = 252). При этом экраны этих моделей не уступают друг другу в качестве картинки и углах обзора. У HTC One V одноядерный процессор, но бо́льшая емкость аккумулятора. В общем, модели практически равны на чашах весов, но тайваньский смартфон стоит значительно дороже — примерно на 3 тысячи рублей на текущий момент. Впрочем, и наличие слота для карт памяти у HTC One V, это уже существенный перевес.

В целом, выбор и покупку Sony Xperia U можно считать вполне оправданными для тех людей, кто не нуждается в большом экране. По всем остальным параметрам, кроме экрана, аппарат выглядит ничуть не хуже, а кое в чем — даже лучше конкурирующих решений.
